Creative Inspiration
"Starlight & Sky Dancers" was born out of a creative struggle leading to a serendipitous inspiration. I had crafted a compelling chord progression for a new song but was grappling with finding a theme that resonated with the overall rhythm and vibe.. The breakthrough came when bandmate Dave Green shared images from his other band's performance, revealing a captivating design on his T-shirt—an intricate mandala created by his daughter freehand, named "Trust."
Upon exploring the daughter's website, a particular mandala named "Sky Dancers" stood out. Recognizing the potential connection with the song's mood, the theme crystallized into "Starlight & Sky Dancers." The lyrics explore the idea of looking to the sky for hope and inspiration, providing an escape from the mundane worries and fears of everyday life. The lyrics paint a dreamscape of miraculous saviors, reminiscent of fantastical elements found in the works of David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix. The lyrics beautifully weaves together the intricate mandala art, the celestial imagery, and the longing for something otherworldly. The song thus becomes a musical journey that invites listeners to gaze at the sky for solace and wonder, a tribute to the transformative power of imagination and the solace found in celestial dreams.
